ASUS Project Precog is the first conceptual dual-screen notebook computer with full enhanced AI function. It uses a 360° flip bearings to connect two sets of display screens, and has four usage modes: upright, book, tent and plane. At the same time, the physical keyboard and the touchpad are omitted, which can be used as an extended screen. It has not only 2 times more display space than the traditional notebook, but also enables the customization of the interactive interface to improve the flexibility, expandability and productivity in use.


The next 2.0 project is an internal forward-looking plan for the Company to find new opportunities for products which may be mass-produced in two years based on our own technology. Therefore, a forward-looking project team was formed to complete the pre-production preparation of this concept. Through a complete trend probe and an overall scenario, we worked step by step to identify potential needs and deduce this design, integrating the professionalism of each member in the team, so as to make full preparations for the project to be successfully affirmed by the boss for its commercial value and initiation as a result.

Project Scope

In response to the related products extended from the millennials’ needs for productivity usage pattern (thinking from the overall eco-system), we reviewed requirements and issues to seek better solutions.



Millennials 千禧世代

Millennials were born into a world surrounded by mobile networks and digital technology. They are quite familiar with the multiscreen phenomenon, seamless experience, and the nonliving ecology shaped by information. This growth background also affects their work/life style.

After understanding the lifestyle and work habits of this group through early-period research and observations of surrounding users' behaviors, we began to brainstorm about how to design a product to improve the productivity in line with the group’s life pattern.






From the device itself to the ecosystem extending to the entire life style, each stage defines several thinking directions to search for any opportunities therein.

Productive Commuting


User experience / Pain Points:

- 出門時.會使用iPhone作汽車導航(更佳手機車用情境?)

- 趁紅燈空檔時拿起Pad複習一下待會簡報的內容,綠燈時常常手忙腳亂的把Pad丟到一旁,(停車時自動切換? Via sensor / gps….)

- NB有在交通工具上可做簡單編輯的需求

- 如果公車沒位置,無論是ipad mini或是iphone都沒辦法拿太久因為手會痠

- 擔心口語輸入也會造成別人的困擾

- 開車上班, 無法使用電子產品  手機放在旁邊備用, 用擴音接電話(手機進車內自動啟動藍芽?)

- 手機在行車間, 當作GPS使用也不太容易, 畫面小, 輸入也麻煩, GPS定位也不準確


Q: What kind of device type and application can meet the needs of easily completing things anytime      and anywhere on the move or riding in means of transport?

Why: There is often a need to operate the device on the move, and it is often not so convenient by time                and space. The current method is not perfect, so, it is possible for us to generate a new business                opportunity by innovation.

Q: What kind of device form and carrying method are best to meet the needs of working on the go,          lightweights and without anything else in need?

Why: High mobility and high performance demands are the trend today. How to streamline the devices              down to both easy portability and handy use is the decisive factor which has not yet been                            satisfactorily achieved. Smarter solutions will be the key to product success.

•       沙發/床上很多時候會因為拿PAD不穩而打臉(VR/AR glass for couch?)

•       出大螢幕可定點使用的使用型態,可分離的鍵盤,壁掛、特殊腳架配件或許可提供更多使用情境

•       桌面凌亂,面積不夠用(螢幕, P.C., NB, Cable, 硬碟….戶佔桌面)

•       2in1可以思考外接式擴充效能之產品

•       在床邊設置支撐架,以方便長時間觀看PAD螢幕

•       用桌機蓋3D, NB畫2D,檔案傳至雲端,用PAD檢查確認({雲端情節}理想的使用情境卻充滿不信任感)

•       希望可以使用iPad搭配筆電作繪圖板

•       立即掃描文件的需求

•       使用列印時,時不時會發生印表機沒有收到資料或是其他等問題,但往往都是要離開座位跑到事務機做處理,然後再回去座位重印。

•       Insights: 參考apple的air drop概念,手機與筆電與印表機之間或許都可以透過類似NFC的概念,由手機與筆電無縫接收與傳輸檔案,使用者可以直接走到印表機前,更直覺的即碰即印,即時調整問題與處理。








We believe that there is a main axis running through several scenarios, which also complies with the trend of industrial development, that is, the single-dimensional devices will gradually lose their advantage. And existing products are made up with multiple devices and multiple screens. But how to continuously improve the quality of dimensionality and degree of freedom is an opportunity.
